As a naturopath I often attend seminars and conferences to learn about the latest scientific research, especially if they are related to gut health or Food Intolerances. I attended a great seminar this year and heard an amazing story about a food additive that was being manufactured for cattle, and the affect that it had on the people that worked in the factory. It all began when the staff on the factory floor were complaining that they never got to use their sick leave, as the office staff and all of their friends had way more sick days than them, and they did not think that it was fair, so management did a deal with them so that they actually got days off as well, even if they were not sick. But the question arose, why were they so much healthier, the diets were the same, all other lifestyle markers were the same, was it to do with the product that they were manufacturing? Further research was conducted and it was found that the workers had a much stronger immune system, it was then discovered that they were inhaling the dust off the product that they were manufacturing and this dust contained good bacteria that was beneficial for their gut health. Thus a new product was born, at least no animals suffered in the creation of this product.
