Musaman Beef

Serves 8


¼ cup peanut oil
2kg chuck steak, cut into big chunks
10 chat potatoes halved
3 lge brown onions chopped
2 x 270ml tins coconut cream or milk
2 tsp thick tamarind concentrate*
2/3 cup water
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup Masman paste
Lightly brown the steak in the heated oil, remove from pan, add onions and potatoes and lightly brown, then add musman paste and cook for two minutes, add rest of ingredients put on lid and let cook, you will get great results if you let it cook in the oven on 150 degrees for about three hours.

*I recommend you use the brand called Tamicon, it is available in Asian grocery stores, it has a yellow label and red lid
